Emerald Society Member Timothy Dolan Designated Cardinal By Pope Benedict XVI February 14, 2012 Emerald Society President Sean Patterson and our entire membership congratulate "our most famous member" Archbishop Timothy Dolan, on his elevation to Cardinal. On Saturday February 18th at the Vatican, Bishop Dolan will receive his red hat in a most reverent ceremony presided over by Pope Benedict XVI. In the days leading up to the historic ritual, Bishop Dolan has been touring the city of Rome with his family. Like a true member of our organization, he has appeared before a multitude of both the American as well as the international media, often while sporting his very own NYPD Emerald jacket. Emblazoned with our famous Shamrock & Shield emblem on the left side and the title "Archbishop" lettered on the navy blue jacket's right side. He certainly has made us all very proud of the Irish-Catholic heritage we share!
